Think of the last time you searched for a professional you did not know — a dentist, a lawyer, a physiotherapist. What did you do? Almost certainly: Google, two or three websites opened, a choice. Your future patients do exactly the same with you.
What they actually search
The searches that bring patients are more concrete than you would think: “psychologist [city]”, “psychotherapist anxiety [city]”, “online psychologist”, “how much does a psychologist cost”. Whoever types these is not browsing: they are looking for someone. The only question is whether they find you or a colleague.
The five things that matter
1. A website Google understands. Google reads page titles, copy, structure. If your website only says “Home — Welcome”, for Google you are not about psychology and not about your city. The right titles are half the work.
2. A page for every important topic. If you work with anxiety, couples therapy and children, each of these deserves its own page, written in simple words. Google rewards pages that answer a precise question — and so do people.
3. Your practice’s Google listing. The one appearing with map, hours and reviews when people search your name. It is free, and for “psychologist + city” searches it counts enormously. It must be created, verified and kept up to date.
4. Speed and phone. More than half of searches come from the phone, often in stressful moments. A slow or unreadable website loses the person at the exact moment they had decided to seek help.
5. Patience and consistency. Google does not reward tricks, it rewards websites that have answered well for a long time. First movements show in 2–3 months; real results in 6–12. Distrust anyone promising page one in a week.
Where to start
If you already have a website, the first step is understanding how it is doing: we make an honest analysis of where you stand on Google and why, and tell you what would actually move things. If the website is to be made or remade, even better: it is born built to be found. On the dedicated page you find how we work and the websites we have already made for your colleagues.
